We know exactly how these scams work.
And we both still got caught.

Between us, my wife and I have spent over 40 years each working in IT security. 80 years of combined experience. We have seen these scams from the inside. We know the tactics, the scripts, the techniques.

And we both still fell for them. Not because we were not smart enough. It happened at exactly the right moment – when we were expecting a delivery, or a renewal notice, or had just made unusual purchases and the bank might reasonably be in touch. The scam arrived at the precise moment it felt completely real.
